Students get an introduction to the concept and practicality of specific gravity (SG) and its use in perfumery. SG is taught more in depth in the Intermediate Level.
Anya's philosophy and goals for the Natural Perfumery Institute's students:

The offline basic course is for those who cannot wish to participate online, believe they may not finish the course in one year, or want an alternative economical tuition. Aromatics Study Kit #1 - Module 1
The kit for the exercise in Module 1 contains 24 4-milliliter pure and natural aromatics in a wooden box for storage. Some of the expensive absolutes are diluted to 10% and oakmoss is diluted to 3% for safety reasons. The kits should last for the entire basic course. The 62 oils of the aromatic groups study are an exciting part of the AGNPI basic course. In Module 2, the student progresses to learning these groups, and the scent profiles of similar aromatics, and their dissimilarities, becomes evident.

There are more aromatic groups than offered here, and many more aromatics that fit within the categories shown. Students are encouraged to sample aromatics from different suppliers. AGNPI has the Supplemental kit assembled by Eden Botanicals for the course.
Students need to have a kit such as the one shown to complete Module 2 studies.
